Cool tip for cleaning silver quickly without smelly chemicals!!!

Yes I know another non- sewing post but this tip (from my next door neighbour Zafira) was too good not to share:)
I am not sure quite how it works, a chemical reaction of some sort I guess?

You need:

-A bowl large enough to hold the silver that you want to clean.
-Aluminium foil.
-Bicarbonate of soda
-Boiling water

Line bowl with a aluminium foil (enough to cover the inside).
Heap a couple of tablespoons (I use about 3 or so) into the foil lined bowl.
Place silver jewellery, small silver items etc... on top of bicarb in bowl .
Pour boiling hot water on top.
Wait about 60 seconds (or a little bit longer for really dirty items) and voila!!
Take items out, rinse with clean cold water and dry.
They should be looking pretty darn good by now :)

As far as I know this only works for silver, don't use on silver that has other metals/items combined in and/or on it (e.g. pearls, gold ) as I am not sure what it would do to anything not silver!

I am NEVER going to buy Silvo again!!!
